WTF! I think you will say that a few times when you watch. It is rather difficult to explain what this show is about. It is better to just watch it and see for yourself. However, let me try. Basically its a coming of age story (from what I’ve seen so far) involving a boy named is Naota Nandaba.

We learn that Naota’s brother, Tasuku, lives in the United states and is a Baseball player. Leaving behind Naota, who idolized him, and his girlfriend, Mamimi Samejima, who also misses him; Naota and Mamimi develop a quirky relationship. Often, Mamimi becomes too physical and close for Naota’s comfort.

There is also another story the develops when Haruko Haruhara shows up and runs over Naota with her yellow Vespa. After running over him she hits him with her Rickenbacker bass guitar. Thus leaves a huge bump in the middle of Naota’s forehead. Eventually, it grows very large and a robot pops out; later on it becomes a friend.

Enough about the story, I don’t want to spoil it. In regards to the anime style, I like it. It has a familiarity about it, yet it is different. The usual style of the characters are semi-realistic and the use of grayer and softer colors adds well the mood set by the story. Just glancing at a screen shot, anyone can tell it is much different than your typical anime.

Nothing ground breaking has been revealed in the story. Though are are some things that should be noted. One, Haruko reveals that she works for the Galactic Space Patrol Brotherhood. Another is that Naota’s relationship with his brother’s girlfriend is not typical of two people in the same situation. Also, the story line might tie in the relationship with the robots popping out of Naota’s head and the Medical Mechanica building/factory.
